I thought I had posted this to Guides already, but it looks like I just double posted in a different thread...

Reader's Digest strategy:

1 MT and 2 others with high HP/mitigation to absorb the Saber Lash (80kish split)
3 Healers dedicated to the tanks during tank&spank
2-3 additional healers

Tasks and priorities:

Tanks:
stay in front of him and within 5' of the MT at all times. Maybe stay stack near the center and have Rune toss D&D on him when he stops the 4th time?
Watch for one of your healers Bone Spiked and use CDs if so.

Melee:
DPS any other Melee that are Bone Spiked
Side step out of Cold Flame
Poke the boss with your sharp things

Range:
DPS any other Range that are Bone Spiked
Side step away from Cold Flame
Shoot the Boss

When he whirlwinds that priorties are:
DPS any Bone Spikes
Run to the nearest wall.
Stay out of Cold Flame
Go back to your spot when he's done spinning.
DPS him when able.
Healers now need be on their toes and heal people that are getting bled. If the tanks are topped off, the Tank healers should be healing anyone.

The way the mechanic works is he picks a person at random and then beelines for their current spot and stands there for a bit twirling. If you are no longer in that spot, he stands there anyway. The damage from the whirlwind seems to be based on how close you are to him. So hug a wall.

He drops agro when he stops spinning.

The 3 big dangers in this fight are:
1) Tank healers are Bone Spiked when Saber Lash is going. (This can be spammed)
2) He whirlwinds into a pack of clothies who are clumped up. (stay spread out, /hug wall)
3) Someone pulls agro after the whirlwind. (no DoTs, let the tank(s) get him positioned. MD, etc) He is not tauntable He can be taunted now.

It is absolutely vital that the bone spikes get taken out ASAP. If you are in the middle of a cast when they come, stop casting and kill the bone spike.

/target Bone Spike
/startattack

/stopcast
/target Bone Spike
/cast Arcane Blast

etc...
Some of you were slow getting out of the Cold Flame. It ticks for 5-6k every second. Don't get hit by it.

A lot of you were ignoring Bone Spikes. Melee really shouldn't need to run around looking for them. Our ranged DPS is more then adequate to kill all the spikes that are at range. Let the melee kill the ones in melee. Kill the damn Bone Spikes.

Some of you were running around like crazy during whirlwwind. Umm...what's up? Turn around and run to the wall, then watch the boss for Cold Flame. If some is coming at you, side step away. If he is out of range of your casts, THAT'S OK. Just stand there. Stay spread out. half the damn raid was getting hit by Cold Flame because they were on top of each other and it's real hard to see the flames when Bone Boy is spinning his ass on top of you.

Other then that, we did great.
I agree with you 100% the biggest thing I noticed was seeing a little more then few not even switch off the boss and go after teh bonespikes and that is no good. if u see that warning that bonespike is about to happen get ready to switch Lord Marrowgar will still be there after those but some of our dps may not if we don't get those things down fast enough
Gamma is offering 1000g to the DPS with the biggest improvment.

I'm gonna offer a /roll chance to win 500g to anyone who posts in this thread before Thursday Dec. 17 at 5 server. Highest roll wins, 1 roll per player. The roll will take place when we're done looting Lord Marrow.

It seemed like things were a little chaotic... Although, that bone spike marco helped wonders. Something I'm not really clear about: When he whirls, my understanding was no DoTs (b/c of the aggro dump) right? My question is (when there are no bone spikes) should we be attacking w/ non-DoT's? Or is the point to just avoid the cold flame, etc. and wait for the tanks to pick up threat again?

good question. I know I was attacking when he started his whirlwind but backed off a little bit b4 he stiops. I did notice a few people get whacked in th head because of the aggro drop so any input on this would be much appreciated

who won the last 1000g?

I believe the 1k will be awarded sometime after the 22nd.

His Whirl lasts for 30 seconds. As long as you have no DoTs on him when he stops, you're fine. Also, as the tanks get used to anticipating where he'll stop, they'll be able to get snap agro much easier, so the point will be moot shortly.

Since some of us have 5 minute debuffs / long lasting DoTs, and the healers will have things like PoM and HoTs running on people, just try to make sure you aren't in melee range of him when he changes phases. Again, as the tanks get used to making sure they are in range and timing their Consecrate/Death&Decay/Charge, it will be a non-issue.
Ok, my observations from a melee point of view. Yes, indeed he has a large hit box, but we need to have the tanks stand inside that hit box, so us melee arent in fear of getting 'clipped' as I did on the last 2 pulls-both before the first bonespikes even appeared. I had to keep inching up to get within melee range-but yet stay behind the tanks, as soon as my melee attacks lit up, so was I, and then watched the rest of the fight looking up. I did mention this to Rip last night who had said that he was using the outside edge of the hit box too. I think we'll have it worked out a bit better on Thursday.

Is this thing on?
500 g please
And an extra 500g to the winner if we get the Boned achievement in the process.

I daresay we can pull off this fight with the 3 tanks running through him, fliipping him around, stacking up nice and tight, and then never ever moving (i.e. I think it will be easier to heal them through Cold Flame and Whirlwind then to heal through monster Saber Lashes cause a tank lagged). Heroic Throw for sure, and maybe D&D can hit him no matter where he is if the tank is in the center, so getting him back after WW should be easy.
Only issue I saw that is preventing us from killing this boss was the bone spikes not being killed soon enough.

I'm probably guilty of this ... since the cold flame comes at some weird angles sometimes during the whirlwind I run around like a mad cow trying to stay out of it. Probably overcompensating for those times when I died to snobold fire that I swear I had gotten out of

How dangerous is the whirlwind phase really? I try to stop and get some heals spread around when I can, and I'm always afraid we might lose a tank because their healers ran away. But I think it's pretty survivable and I should focus more on positioning and less on trying to get every heal possible thrown.

Other healers - especially those on raid - do you agree?
The whirlwind damage is trivial. Cold Flame on the other hand is brutal.

As for achievement titles, BonedRefresh This Item ranks right up there with Bros. Before Ho Ho Ho'sRefresh This Item.

Just thought I'd point this out...

Hot fix last night on Lord Marrowgar. Supposedly he is now tauntable.

Time's up. Pretty disheartening to see how few actually read this thread.
The 500g will have to wait now.

We got this guys.

Spikes died quick when people weren't off in a corner by themselves.
Rip was getting agro after the WW.
People were mostly avoiding the Fire.

Make sure to group up tighter after the WW. I died once from being spiked while off to the far right. I notice quite a few others have the same thing happen. Don't be a tard like me and wander away from people.

Cold Ice avoidance... a few of you need help... anyway.. during the WW it's a mjor PITA seeing almost anything when he's on top of you. Then you have Fire everywhere, and more fire from the last time he stopped. Real easy to die then and not a whole lot that can be done... if he starts to hump you, move a bit so you can see.

The only other major thing we need to work on is keeping all 3 tanks alive through the Saber Lashes. We're at the point now where if the tanks live, we win.

We definitely have this...

I always ran to the nearest wall during WW, but also noticed (like Nic said) that when he WW's near our starting point the cold fire is almost unavoidable. Usually, I ran off towards one of the columns Rip mentioned. It may cause a little wife aggro, but I'll be there Sun. night... Cause this beotch is goin' down!
